From the Manager
Hope this update finds you all fit and well and
gearing up for a busy and productive winter.
I have decided rather than hold off any longer I will let you know about upcoming classes and
dates that are confirmed but some are not yet finalised. Some of them are off site and therefore there are many
more pieces to pull together. I will update the incomplete ones as soon as
possible. Sorry about that but I wanted to give you time to plan as there
are a couple of big workshops coming up. Register your interest in any
of them and we will get back to you directly.
I have been conducting a review of my business and one of the questions I
had to answer was "what is it that we do best or that is different or that
stands out?" Of course the answer was easy for me - we provide a face
to face, friendly, positive learning environment and wonderful classes to allow
for the "Unleashing of One's Creative Spirit". It never ceases to amaze me
when I look back over time and see the advances women make when they have
the opportunity and encouragement to learn. This is the area I want to
continue to grow and as you know I am starting to run workshops in Melbourne
as many of you are based there. With the internet we have increased access to
products and information and are spoilt with the incredible range of
materials, online courses, blogs, sites, tools, products, etc, at our disposal.
Many of you have gathered information and developed a range of skills, but
can still get a little lost or overwhelmed amongst it all. Others, of course,
just like to learn in an environment that affords the opportunity to come
back together in time to 'show and tell' and reflect on what we have learnt.
(I like that!) I am formulating a series of workshops designed to help
you develop the 'artist' within and bring all of these different aspects
together. They will stimulate you and excite your creative enquiry and
assist you to enhance and develop your skills base.
Whether you are a beginner Textile Artist or one who has been developing
your skills for a while, all of our workshops will help you to
move to the next level of competence. I am really excited about
our expanding workshop base and thrilled that I can bring teachers of the
calibre of Pamela Farmer, Carole Redlich, Catherine O'Leary and Prudence
Mapstone to you, along with all of our other wonderful and talented
teachers.
